From the presses of a reimagined Baker & Godwin: The Truth Beneath the Propaganda.
This art print continues our series imagining the famed 19th-century printers as a modern, pro-democracy art house. The design uses a "torn paper" effect to make a powerful and direct argument. We start with the propaganda of our time: two ICE recruitment ads featuring Donald Trump and Kristi Noem under the slogan "Defend the Homeland."
But this patriotic veneer is torn away, revealing the brutal truth underneath. What is revealed is a page from "The Anti-Slavery Alphabet," a real abolitionist tract from 1846. The verses for "K is the Kidnapper" and "L is the Lash" describe a slave catcher brutally tearing a child from its mother. The parallel is not a suggestion; it is a direct accusation. Faintly superimposed over Kristi Noem is the modernized drill diagram of the American Anti-Man-Hunting League, a blueprint for resisting these actions. This poster argues that the same evil persists, just under a different name.
