Slogans in Chinese praise "Old Commoner Thought," and his own fiery words calling to "Free every slave, slay every traitor" are presented as a guiding principle. His name is even rendered in a font modeled on Mao Zedong's calligraphy. The purpose of this jarring style is to highlight the revolutionary, unyielding, and confrontational nature of Stevens's politics. Finally, the poster is grounded in the present with a series of modern slogans calling to "Sweep away Trump," demand a "Third Reconstruction," and "Join the Wide-Awakes."
